"We have found a solution that makes a difference and makes sense to us and our customers, as physical carbon can be stored nearby. In addition, we are pleased that our carbon storage contributes to long-term soil improvement with our agricultural partners," says Sustainability Director Guro Elgheim Sivertsen.

They have chosen to continue with this strategy to this day, and have now removed a total of 117 tonnes of CO₂!

Carbon removal is an international term for extracting CO2 from the carbon cycle and atmosphere. Carbon removers in Down To Earth's network are companies that pay monthly to ensure this happens. The carbon is stored in agricultural soil, which is beneficial for soil improvement and climate adaptation.

Karbonfjerning er et internasjonalt begrep for å ta CO2 ut av kretsløpet og atmosfæren. Karbonfjernere i Norsk Karbonlagrings nettverk er bedrifter som på månedlig basis betaler for at dette skjer. Karbonet lagres i landbruksjord hvor det kommer til nytte som jordforbedring og klimatilpasning.

OBIO offers biochar from Norway's first commercial pyrolysis plant. Chips, logging residues, and other by-products from forestry and agriculture are biomass created through photosynthesis: water, solar energy, and CO2 from the atmosphere. Pyrolysis is an industrial process where biomass is transformed into biochar. The biochar from the factory contains over 90% pure carbon. Opplandske also utilizes the heat and offers this for the highest possible utilization.

OBIO tilbyr biokull fra Norges første kommersielle pyrolyseanlegg. Flis, grot og andre sidestrømmer fra skog- og landbruk er biomasse som bygges ved fotosyntese. Vann, solenergi og CO2 fra atmosfæren er byggesteinene. Pyrolyse er en industriell prosess der biomasse omdannes til biokull. Biokull fra fabrikken inneholder over 90 % rent karbon. Opplandske utnytter også varmen og tilbyr dette videre for høyest mulig utnyttelse.
