Synnøve Knivsland ensures that the carbon removed by Down to Earth's customers is irreversibly stored. The carbon, in the form of biochar, is distributed in compost and bedding, which is the straw-rich substrate the cows walk on in the barns. In the bedding and compost, the biochar is loaded with microorganisms and nutrients before being spread out on the pasture where the Highland cattle will graze the following season.

At Tangen søndre, they have several fields with soil characterized by a lot of sand. Here, nutrients and water flow quickly, especially during heavy rainfall. With biochar from carbon removal, the soil's ability to retain these will increase, and the soil will become more resilient to the weather conditions associated with climate change.

Synnøve Knivsland sørger for at karbon fjernet av Down to Earths kunder blir irreversibelt lagret.
