Nes Herregård

Carbon Storage

Nes Herregård is a venerable manor from the 17th century, approximately 5 km south of Fredrikstad. Edvard Fosdahl manages plant production on the farm with its 1050 acres, primarily producing seed grain for Strand Unikorn.

The farm has converted 400 acres to follow regenerative farming principles. It is one of six farms participating in the "Regenerative Farming in Practice - Reference Farms 2021 - 2023" project, funded by the Agricultural Directorate. This includes practices such as cover crops, reduced soil fertilization, the introduction of foliar fertilization, mineral balancing of the soil, minimizing the use of pesticides, and increasing the return of organic material to the ground. The farm views biochar charged with manure or compost as a helpful component in the future. The goal is to achieve healthy soil that can sustainably produce healthy plants for the climate and public health.
