The carbon storage benefits Norwegian agriculture and the kitchen garden at Stokkøya as soil improvement! The carbon is stored in Trøndelag's farmland, and a good portion ends in the hotel's kitchen garden. Ask the staff if you'd like to participate in shoveling some out yourself!

Asplan Viak has calculated the footprint. The figure is based on the carbon footprint from 2021 divided by the number of guest nights that same year.

OBIO offers biochar from Norway's first commercial pyrolysis plant. Chips, logging residues, and other by-products from forestry and agriculture are biomass created through photosynthesis: water, solar energy, and CO2 from the atmosphere. Pyrolysis is an industrial process where biomass is transformed into biochar. The biochar from the factory contains over 90% pure carbon. Opplandske also utilizes the heat and offers this for the highest possible utilization.

Vann, solenergi og CO2 fra atmosfæren er byggesteinene. Pyrolyse er en industriell prosess der biomasse omdannes til biokull. Biokull fra fabrikken inneholder over 90 % rent karbon.
